What we collect
If you send an enquiry through our website form, we collect the details you enter: your name, role, institution, email address, the area you are interested in, and any notes you add.
If you email, phone or meet us, we keep your contact details and a record of what we discussed.
When you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We don't use this to identify you.
Why we use it
We use your details to reply to your enquiry and to discuss our watches with schools and the people who work with them. Our legal basis is legitimate interests: running our business and responding to people who contact us, or whose role at a school makes our products relevant to them.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie banner. If that changes, we will update this notice and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, which receives your IP address as part of that request.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of providers to run the business, and they handle data on our behalf:
- Netlify, which hosts this website and receives enquiry form submissions.
- Our email provider, which handles correspondence.
- Google, for the fonts described above.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where your data is transferred, we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place for UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and contact details for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete them. We keep financial records, such as invoices, for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data;
- restrict how we use it, or stop using it for contacting you;
- object to our use of it.
Email edward@melbournecrown.co.uk and we will reply within one month. If we have emailed you about our products, you can ask us to stop at any time.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
